I'm Ready for my Close Up!

Hello lovely people, I'm finally back in the blogosphere after the untimely death of my laptop "Betty" last year! So to kick things back off I thought I'd share with you my go-to pin-up inspired outfit. Cute and playful, this quirky ensemble always gets noticed.

I love the denim romper, it's so versatile and gives any look an instant retro edge. I bought it in New Look a little while ago, but you can find something similar here. Teamed with red, white and yellow, the colour combination really pops and gives the outfit a nautical twist.

To really give it that recognisable pin-up girl styling, I complete the look with a headscarf, cat-eye specs and a lick of red lippy. VoilĂ ! I'm ready for my close up!

Do you have a signature P-U-G inspired outfit?

Spring Ball

Being such a girly girl, I can't resist getting myself all dolled up every now and again. I recently went to a Charity Ball in aid of St Margaret's Hospice, which was a great excuse to get my glad rags on, and all for a good cause too! I'm loving pastel colours this spring, so instead of wearing the typical LBD, I wore this beautiful Marcelane dress in mint. I adore how the delicate embellishments give subtle definition to an otherwise understated dress. With its floating hemline, cascading shoulder pieces and simple chiffon shawl, the ensemble is so graceful!

Feeling inspired by some of you wonderful bloggers, I thought I'd try something a little different with my hair. I wanted to create an elfin style to compliment the airy features of the dress, so I decided on a crown plait, which  finished in a tight fishtail braid. I completed the look with a charleston-esque headband, which you can find here

Ivory nail varnish compliments pastel colours perfectly, as well as really making your nails pop! I applied a couple of layers of French tip polish before finishing them off with a coat of Natural Collection Sugar Mouse varnish to give them a pearlescent sheen.

Have you had any chances to get dressed up recently?

Woodland Walk

Sundays are the perfect day for a romp through the countryside, especially when the weather is as beautiful as it was over the weekend! For a playful style that's perfect for a jaunt through the fields,  I teamed a pair of high-waisted jeans with an oversized blouse and baseball jacket, and completed the look with a simple pair of plimsolls and large round sunglasses.

Date with Destiny

I totally agree with this quote from the lips of no one other than Coco Chanel. No matter how hard you try, it's impossible to plan out your life completely. But you can always plan your outfit! So many of the best moments of my life so far have been unexpected, and I wouldn't change it for the world. At least I know that whatever happens in the future, it'll happen with style...

Pretty in Pleats

The weather in Somerset over the past few days has been B-E-A-utiful, which means I've been rummaging through my Spring wardrobe. Midi skirts are a must-have right now, and is it any wonder? They're so flirty and feminine, and 70s-inspired pleated midis are especially cute. Slipping into a midi is also a fab way to ease into baring those pins later in the summer! Team with a bodysuit, a pair of courts and some oversized sunnies, and you're good to go! Why not take a cheeky peek at the wide range of pleated midis available from ASOS

What's your Spring essential?

How cute is this Cinderella Carriage clock brooch?! I picked this little gem up from an Antiques Fair a couple of weeks ago, having caught it glistening out the corner of my eye. It's so beautiful I just had to have it. I thought it would look great pinned to a clutch bag for an evening out... After all, accessories need accessorizing too sometimes, right?

The 90s Blouse

The 90s blouse is a fashion staple that just keeps coming back season after season... And I'm definitely not complaining! These oversized shirts radiate an effortless style, perfect for that transition from work to play. There are so many great designs around at the moment, especially from Topshop and Missguided. But if you're like me and like to get a bit more from your money, why not have a gander in your local charity shops? You can pick up some fab retro pieces without breaking the bank. I picked up all of these blouses for under £8 each. That means more money to spend on accessories, right?

How do you accessorise your 90s blouses?
